The Business + Higher Education Roundtable (BHER) congratulates Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland on the delivery of her second federal budget.

BHER welcomes the multiple skills and talent measures in Budget 2022 that address issues we and our members care about, including:

  • An investment of over $2 billion to bolster the immigration process, making it easier for international students and workers to settle in Canada, helping to drive innovation, create economic growth, and fill skilled talent gaps.
  • The provision of $272.6 million to the Opportunities Fund that will increase the participation of persons with disabilities in the labour market and make workplaces more inclusive and accessible.
  • More than $3 billion to support new job and training opportunities, including by helping mid-career workers transition to in-demand jobs, and helping young Canadians gain work experience.

We look forward to learning more about these and other new commitments and to working with the Government of Canada to deliver on our collective priorities.
