The Role
The Events and Convening Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering digital and in-person convening events to carry out BHER's mission of creating opportunity through collaboration. This role reports to the VP, Corporate Services and works closely with project teams to design and deliver meetings, events, and other activities that convene BHER’s members, partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute critical paths and track timelines for convening activities
  • Report on the progress of convening activities on an ongoing basis 
  • Source, secure, and maintain relationships with external vendors and partners as required
  • Work closely with internal project teams to develop event agendas and event scenarios
  • Coordinate and execute on attendance activities, such as invitations and registration 
  • Work closely with external partners, members, and other stakeholders to deliver successful events
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of convening budgets
  • Assist in the development of communication materials to support convening activities 
  • Represent BHER in a professional and respectful manner when liaising with stakeholders onsite at meetings and events
  • Other specific tasks as required to support BHER’s growth and development
     

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in a relevant discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience event coordination and delivery
  • Experience delivering government-supported projects or programs would be an asset 
  • Ability to travel independently in Canada
  • Comprehensive understanding of event planning, such as budgets, venue sourcing, and other logistics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Superb organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and writing skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to problem solve
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to other projects of varying size, scope, and complexity
  • Demonstrated success in dealing with complex issues in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Ability to apply sound judgment, and decision making
  • Bilingualism is considered a strong asset
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented, highly productive environment
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple project timelines and deliverables
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada
